Family area
The Family Area at Musée de l'Orangerie is accessible year-round during museum opening hours, weekends, public holidays, and school vacations for zone C in France.
For children aged 0-12 and accompanying adults, the Family Area offers a chance to take a break and enjoy a sensory-based and creative experience of the artworks in the Musée de l’Orangerie collection.
Designed to introduce our youngest visitors to art and critical observation, this free-access area offers a unique approach through a variety of activity centers focused on experimentation, touch and play, providing an educational and entertaining experience for all visitors.
A dive into the watery ambiance of the Water Lilies
The Family Area was designed to meet the various needs of families, with play, relaxation, drawing, reading and listening to stories, for various age groups, from infants to adolescents. The setting is directly inspired by Claude Monet’s Water Lilies and his garden in Giverny.
Beyond the colors, there are numerous references to the painter’s environment, and to the use of aquatic motifs. tables in the shape of water lilies; a textured floor that reproduces the reflection of circles in the water; benches with cushions forming ripples.
Various activity centers, for ages 2 and up and ages 5 and up
Touch-based activities are offered throughout the area.
Experiment as a family on the subject of Claude Monet’s Water Lilies and a selection of artworks from the Orangerie collection on the theme of figures.

A reading corner
Together you can discover the various play and educational resources revolving around the Orangerie’s collection.
Sound nooks
Immerse yourself through sound in the museum’s artworks by listening to the podcasts Promenades imaginaires and other audio creations.
Workshops
Continue to immerse yourself in the Musée de l’Orangerie’s works by following the perspective of Anne Brugni. Using materials designed by the artist, these workshops invite you to work as a family to create variations of the Water Lilies.
