Carolyn Carlson prefers to refer to her work as “visual poetry” rather than “choreography”. Her poetic world is expressed through dance, as well as through the graphic arts and written poetry, several collections of which have been published.

A unique figure in the field of contemporary dance, the choreographer has spent many years developing a form all her own, at the crossroads of her various artistic experiences: her Poetry Events.
In an improvisational setting, dance, poetry readings and music intermingle to create snapshots born of the Blue Lady’s imagination. Conceived and experienced in line with its venue and the artists taking part, each Poetry Event is unique, a privileged instant of infinite poetic freedom.
On the occasion of this new programing in the midst of Claude-Monet’s Water Lilies, Carolyn Carlson has invited two dancers from her company, Céline Maufroid and Sara Orselli, and the actor Rémi Bichet to improvise alongside her to live music played by the violoncellist Pierre Le Bourgeois. Through her art of revealing the invisible and conjuring up energy, Carolyn Carlson’s creations illuminate their audiences. When they dance, all her dancers have the same responsibility of prioritizing light and charisma.
