The Scenographic Posterity of the Orangerie’s Water Lilies

Monet’s exhibition of his works played a crucial role in the invention and development of installations, defined as artistic environments that plunge the spectator right into the heart of the scenographic presentation.
From Rothko to Warhol and James Turrell, this lecture aims to study the works of some of the artists presented in the exhibition but from the specific perspective of the emergence of the installation and the figure of the artist as scenographer of his/her work.
