Having quickly become an iconic figure after her death, Julia Margaret Cameron emerges as an exception amongst her contemporaries. Her approach and the strength of her images enabled her to go beyond her status as a woman photographer, and to enter the pantheon of those photographers who had the greatest influence on subsequent generations.
