An Evening at the Museum

Friday, 20 November 2015, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm

Alongside the exhibition Who’s Afraid of Women Photographers? (1839-1919)?, the Musée de l’Orangerie is joining with the École du Louvre and inviting young mediators, students specialising in the history of photography, to be available for an evening for 18-30 year olds. They will talk to them about their appreciation and passion for the women photographers of the 19th and 20th centuries, commenting on the works of these pioneering women who played a key role in the history of this medium. By welcoming these young people outside normal opening times, the Musée de l’Orangerie is offering a privileged visit to the current temporary exhibition.

There will be a photography workshop during the evening: an opportunity to look at techniques of portrait and self-portrait, and at retouching images through découpage and assemblage in the style of the 19th century amateur photographers.

The Café - Bookshop Giftshop will remain open throughout this event.
