Janaina Tschäpe - The Water Lilies by Claude Monet

Janaina Tschäpe (b. 1973) received her BFA from the Hochschule für bildende Künste, Hamburg and her MFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York. Tschäpe’s body of work has encompassed painting, drawing, photography, video and sculpture, and is often centered around themes of aquatic, plant and human life. Her dreamlike, abstract landscapes blur perceptions of illusion and reality with a distinctive language of artistic expression.

Zhang Enli (b. 1965) is a leading Chinese painter whose oeuvre has gradually developed from visual interpretations of everyday objects to abstraction. His distinctive style—fluid, spontaneous and gestural—draws on bot Eastern and Western painterly traditions. Zhang Enli has exhibited extensively internationally including solo and group exhibitions in Italy, Germany, China, England, Switzerland and the United States. He is currently living and working in Shanghai.

Marjane Satrapi (born in Iran, lives and works in Paris) has directed four features films, including the animated Persepolis (2007), adapted from her graphic novels, and, most recently, Radioactive (2020). Her drawings and paintings have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums in Europe and the United States. She has lectured extensively at American universities. Guillermo del Toro is a Mexican filmmaker, author, actor, and former special effects makeup artist. He is best known for the Academy Award-winning fantasy films Pan's Labyrinth (2006) and The Shape of Water (2017), winning the Oscars for Best Director and Best Picture for the latter.
